Samsung 970 Evo Rapid Mode Not Supported
The 850 is clearly using RapidMode, not the 950. Magician clearly says that RapidMode is not supported for the 950 on Windows 10. Thing is, with the latest builds of Windows 10, I've seen no speed difference between the standard MS AHCI driver and using the Samsung NVMe driver. I'm thinking the new Microsoft driver may be NVMe aware. On a Samsung 850 EVO, like the 250 GB model I have here, the blocks are around 512 MB. On an SSD, a write operation is usually a read-modify-write, where the original block is read, modified as.
Reader Kelly asked Samsung why Rapid mode wasn’t working in Windows 10:
Kelly:
“Just an FYI, I contacted Samsung on why Rapid mode doesn’t work with Win 10. I would also like to note some sites are offering mis-information on how to resolve it.
But here’s their official response….”
Samsung 870 Evo Rapid Mode Not Supported
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Samsung Support regarding your concerns and inquiries. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.
Magician 4.7 is an intermediary release that contains support the 850 Pro and Evo 2 TB models, patch a secure erase issue, and adds the foundational features for Magician to work with Windows 10 . We do not have an official release date for the Magician and Data Migration to fully work with Windows 10 as of yet. It is extremely important that you do not use any older versions of our software with Windows 10. Do not use Rapid mode as we are still working on how to optimally take advantage of the new RAM management features built into 10. We genuinely appreciate your patience in this matter.
Thank you again for contacting Samsung Support and have a good day.
